With veteran musicians from such legendary bands as Anthrax Armored Saint Adrenaline Mob Machine Head Overkill Exodus and Shadows Fall its hard not to think of Category 7 as a supergroup I think were pretty super jokes guitarist Phil Demmel who has earned megametal cred over the decades as a member of Machine Head VioLence Kerry King and has also played as a fillin road guitarist for Slayer Lamb of God Overkill and others Really I feel like this is a band not a side project And I feel like we have written this incredible piece of music and were not done Im so proud of the way this came together and the people who were involved And I think we all feel super positive about this and what else we can do with it going forward The songs on the bands selftitled debut speak for themselves As crushing and confrontational as an armed rebellion as rhythmically thunderous as a storm of golf ballsized hail and as fiercely melodic as infectious riffs and aggressive vocals can be Category 7 is a new breed of metal that lives up to the storied histories of its members Theyre as heavy as a battleship yet the songs are meticulously structured skillfully balancing thrash beats New Wave of British Heavy Metal rhythms punk metal attitude blistering and ferocious dual guitar work and scarinflicting vocals Its all about big verses and big songs and it has a lot of the elements weve explored in our other bands explains guitarist and main songwriter Mike Orlando Adrenaline Mob Sonic Universe Noturnall

This book the authors second book on screw compressors â presents the results of the most up to date methods of threedimensional modeling of the fluid dymanics and the solidfluid interaction within these machines which are still being developed By including them in the design process it is possible not only to predict flow patterns more accurately and hence improve the design of the critical components but also to determine how the pressure and temperature distribution within the compressor distorts the rotors and casing and how this in turn has an interactive effect on the performance Such calculating facilities are especially valuable for oil free machines in which temperature changes are much larger and thus make thermal distortion effects more significant However it confers advantages in all cases as improved machine tools enable manufacturing tolerances to be reduced and hence compressors can be built with smaller clearances Four examples outline the scope of the applied mathematical model for three dimensional calculation of fluid flow and stresses in the solid parts of the screw machine

Throughout the last decades centrifugal compressor research and development have been revolutionized Computational fluid dynamics have provided a better understanding of the flow and physical phenomena and the design of new cen trifugal compressor components has been transformed from an art into a sci ence New materials and manufacturing techniques now create new geometries that could only be dreamed of in the past and new challenging applications have pushed the limits beyond what was considered the state of the art This new book presenting a comprehensive look at industrial compressors is therefore very timely Readers will find a large amount of information based on extensive experience a clear and wellfounded approach to realgas handling and solutions to many practical problems It will provide engineering contractors and users of industrial compressors with a better insight into the how and why of different design features thus allowing a more profound basis for discussions with manufacturers It will also cast a light on the daybyday design practice to academia by revealing the limitations and requirements of practical applications and economics This book combines a strict mathematical approach with practical experience and is illustrated with many examples It fills in the gap between academic text books and encyclopaedic descriptions of industrial compressors I have no doubt that this book based on several decades of experience in the industry both in the USA and Europe will be well received by the centrifugal compressor community

Althoughtheprinciplesofoperationofhelicalscrewmachinesascompressors or expanders have been well known for more than 100 years it is only during the past 30 years that these machines have become widely used The main reasons for the long period before they were adopted were their relatively poor eciency and the high cost of manufacturing their rotors Two main developments led to a solution to these diculties The rst of these was the introduction of the asymmetric rotor prole in 1973 This reduced the bl hole area which was the main source of internal leakage by approximately 90 and thereby raised the thermodynamic eciency of these machines to roughly the same level as that of traditional reciprocating compressors The second was the introduction of precise thread milling machine tools at proximately the same time This made it possible to manufacture items of complex shape such as the rotors both accurately and cheaply From then on as a result of their ever improving eciencies high rel bility and compact form screw compressors have taken an increasing share of the compressor market especially in the elds of compressed air production and refrigeration and air conditioning and today a substantial proportion of compressors manufactured for industry are of this type Despite the now wide usage of screw compressors and the publication of many scientic papers on their development only a handful of textbooks have been published to date which give a rigorous exposition of the principles of their operation and none of these are in English
